The player is due to appear before a local court at the end of January. The meeting is scheduled for the 26th. Newcastle officials, including head coach Eddie Howe, are aware of the incident.
Joelinton, 26, has been with Newcastle since 2019. The striker has scored two goals and two assists in 16 games this season in the Premier League.
