The star of the Brazilian national team, Neymar da Silva, suffered a right ankle injury during the victory over Serbia (2-0), today, Thursday, in the first round of the 2022 World Cup group stage, to leave the stadium in the 80th minute while limping.
While on the bench, the French Paris Saint-Germain player took off the shoe from his right foot, and also removed his sock and shin guard, and a swelling the size of an egg appeared at the bottom of his foot.
Neymar also appeared, limping, during his return to the dressing room.
The Samba star has a long history of injuries, specifically in his right ankle in 2019, an injury that kept him from participating in the Copa America at that time.
The doctor added, “He will undergo physiotherapy sessions, and we have to wait until tomorrow… We have not requested x-rays until this moment.”
Lasmar indicated that Neymar felt this pain for 11 minutes, but he wanted to stay on the field to help his comrades.
Concealing the injury
For his part, the coach of the samba team, Tite, confirmed that Neymar will continue to play in the World Cup, but he will wait for the doctor’s report, who initially reassured the technical staff of his condition.
Regarding the course of the match, Tite said that he asked his players to calm down between the two halves, to pass the balls smoothly, and not to feel excessive enthusiasm.
