Australia’s Nick Kyrgios is poised to make his Grand Slam comeback, marking his first appearance in over two years, with his participation confirmed for the Australian Open.
The Australian has competed in just one match over the last two seasons due to knee and wrist surgeries but is set to make his return later this month at the Brisbane tournament.
Despite being unseeded, Kyrgios holds a protected ranking of world No. 21, allowing him entry into his home Grand Slam, the Australian Open, which kicks off on January 12.
Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka are headlining the field for the first Grand Slam of the season.
Meanwhile, Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic, the 2020 Olympic women’s singles gold medalist, will make her return to tennis after becoming a mother, having given birth to her daughter Bella in April, according to the British news agency.
