Serbian Novak Djokovic beats Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open on Tuesday, securing a 3-1 victory with set scores of (4-6), (6-4), (6-3), and (6-4) in a match that lasted 3 hours and 38 minutes. Djokovic’s win sends him into the semi-finals, where he will face German Alexander Zverev.

A Rocky Start for Alcaraz

The match began with Alcaraz showing visible signs of tension, committing several errors. He quickly lost his first serve game, allowing Djokovic to gain an early advantage at 2-0. However, Djokovic also struggled with his errors, allowing Alcaraz to break back and reduce the score to 2-1. Djokovic’s shots lacked depth, and he was affected by tension during the opening moments.

Injury Scare for Djokovic

The first set saw Djokovic’s level drop noticeably, with signs of an injury. As a result, Alcaraz broke Djokovic’s serve in the ninth game to take a 5-4 lead. The third set saw Djokovic’s level rise further. He created breakpoints for Alcaraz early but faced tough resistance from the Spaniard. Eventually, Djokovic broke through with a powerful baseline rally, gaining a 4-2 lead. Alcaraz struggled with unforced errors, which allowed Djokovic to break again, securing the third set 6-3 in 50 minutes.

Djokovic Clinches the Match in the Fourth Set

In the fourth set, Alcaraz’s morale dropped after losing his serve early. Djokovic capitalized on the mistakes, taking a 3-1 lead. Although Alcaraz fought hard, saving a break opportunity in the seventh game, he couldn’t manage to make a full comeback. Djokovic held his serve to win the match 6-4, Novak Djokovic beats Alcaraz securing his semi-final spot against Alexander Zverev.
