Paris Saint-Germain returned with a historic victory from Italy, by defeating Juventus (2-1), today, Wednesday, at the end of the Group H competitions of the European Champions League.
Kylian Mbappe and Nuno Mendes scored Paris’ goals in the 13th and 69th minutes, while Leonardo Bonucci scored the Juve goal in the 39th minute.
The Paris giant achieved its first victory in the old lady’s stronghold, and repeated the same result in the first match, but failed to take the lead in the group.
Saint-Germain raised its score to 14 points, equal with leaders Benfica, in everything, even direct confrontations, but the Portuguese team won the lead thanks to its goals outside the ground.
While Juventus tied Maccabi Haifa with 3 points, the Italian team went to the European League.
Surprise guests The guests
surprised their opponent with an early goal, scored by Mbappe with a superb skill, after he dribbled past Gatti and Bonucci, before hitting a powerful shot from a long distance at Chesney.
Mbappe almost repeated the attempt with another shot over the crossbar, while Chesney kept another attempt from Messi.
In the midst of the Paris awakening, coach Christophe Galtier lost his first substitution after 20 minutes, due to an injury to Fabien Ruiz, to be replaced by Renato Sanchez.
As for Juve’s attempts, it was more against Italian goalkeeper Donnarumma with dangerous shots by the duo Locatelli and Cuadrado from outside the penalty area.
Fabio Meretti also slowed down in two chances inside the French team’s penalty area, to miss his team a draw.
Juve equalized
From a great teamwork, Locatelli started it with a cross pass that Cuadrado headed with his head, to be completed by Bonucci in the net, to revive the hopes of the old lady in the meeting.
Juve lacked sufficient ferocity at the start of the second half, while Saint-Germain approached the goal with two attempts by Mbappe and Sergio Ramos, who were saved by Szczni.
His two substitutions were pushed by his two substitutions at once, with Hugo Eketiki and Nuno Mendes replacing Carlos Soler and Juan Bernat.
An immediate reward
The reward came quickly, as Mendes scored the second goal for PSG from the first touch after coming down a few seconds, to lead the guests again.
A quarter of an hour before the end of the match, Federico Chiesa took the place of Meriti, and Locatelli scored a goal by following Kostic’s shot, but the referee indicated offside.
The last minutes passed between the players of both teams without a real danger on the goal, so that Saint-Germain secured its victory.
