Milan coach Stefano Pioli confirmed his team’s readiness to face Inter in the derby tomorrow, Saturday, in a press conference he held today, Friday.
“Our plan is always to invest in young talents and keep players who are able to develop,” Pioli said. “The current season will be balanced with many clubs competing for the title.”
And whether he was afraid of the possibility of Rafael Leao losing to Chelsea in the last moments of the Mercato, he stressed, “No, I saw his behavior and commitment well, as I listened to what the club was telling me.”
He commented on the derby match, saying, “Inter and Milan know each other well, and the derby remains a derby.”
On the reasons for winning the match, Pioli predicted, “It will be a strong match with many pairs, and whoever wins the largest number of them will have a greater chance of victory.”
He added, “Some situations can make the difference, and therefore we have to be sharp, we must impose our style regardless of the opponent.”
“We have special ideas and we want to implement them. We have to prepare for each match as if it were the last.”
He talked about the absence of Alessandro Florenzi and the contract with Sergio Dest, explaining, “We are all sad for Florenzi, he is a leader on and off the field, and the medical staff is trying to determine the duration of his absence.”
Pioli continued, “Dest has quality, rhythm, and strength. He will play at full-back, but he can play in other advanced positions.”
And given the team’s injuries, “Divok Origi will be on the bench, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is always with us.”
