Paris Saint-Germain extended their domestic winning streak with a 3-0 victory over Toulouse on Friday evening in the 12th round of Ligue 1.
Joao Neves, Lucas Beraldo, and Vitinha were the goal scorers for Paris Saint-Germain, finding the net in the 35th, 84th, and 91st minutes, respectively. With this 3-0 win, PSG secured their fifth consecutive victory in Ligue 1.
The team now sits at the top of the table with 32 points, heading into their upcoming challenge against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena next Tuesday, full of confidence. On the other hand, Toulouse saw their three-match winning streak come to an end, remaining on 15 points in 10th place.
Paris Saint-Germain dominated possession in the first half, frequently testing Toulouse’s defense, but efforts from Asensio, Ousmane Dembele, Warren Zaire-Emery, and Bradley Barcola failed to convert into goals. The breakthrough came when Portuguese midfielder Joao Neves scored with a brilliant shot following a cross from Moroccan captain Achraf Hakimi.
PSG’s goalkeeper, Matvey Safonov, was key in keeping his team ahead, saving two attempts from Toulouse’s Zakaria Aboukhlal, as the first half ended with PSG leading 1-0.
In the opening 10 minutes of the second half, Toulouse’s goalkeeper Guillaume Restes denied PSG a second goal, saving a powerful strike from Hakimi and another attempt by Dembele.
Warren Zaire-Emery thought he had doubled PSG’s lead when he pounced on a rebound from Restes, but the goal was ruled out by VAR for an offside infringement by Marco Asensio.
Toulouse came close to equalizing in the final 20 minutes, with several clear chances. Emery denied Aboukhlal in a one-on-one situation, and Zaire-Emery made a mistake, passing the ball to Toulouse’s Xavi Papika, who inexplicably shot over the bar. Safonov also saved a third chance, denying Franck Magri.
PSG remained alert, exchanging attacks with their rivals. Substitute Fabian Ruiz fired a powerful shot that hit the post, and Lee Kang-in had a shot blocked by the defense. However, Lucas Beraldo scored PSG’s second goal with a left-footed shot following a rebound off the Toulouse defense.
In stoppage time, substitute Randal Kolo Muani ran with the ball and set up Vitinha, who blasted a shot into the net, sealing the 3-0 victory for PSG. The match ended after 5 minutes of stoppage time, with PSG extending their winning streak.
