Paris Saint-Germain’s struggles continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Nantes on Saturday evening in the 13th round of Ligue 1.
PSG were unable to take full advantage of an early goal from Achraf Hakimi in the second minute at the Parc des Princes, as Nantes equalized through Mathis Ablin in the 38th minute to secure a 1-1 draw.
The result allowed Nantes to snap a four-match losing streak, bringing their tally to 11 points and lifting them to 16th place in the standings.
The Parisian giants remain at the top of the table with 33 points, but their five-match winning streak was halted, and they were also unable to bounce back from their recent loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
PSG started the match with intense pressure, not allowing Nantes any time to settle. They took the lead just two minutes in when Nuno Mendes delivered a cross that Goncalo Ramos directed towards goal with his foot, and Achraf Hakimi was there to finish it into the net.
Afterwards, Ramos, Vitinha, and João Neves all had opportunities to extend PSG’s lead but were unable to convert in front of Nantes’ goal. In the 21st minute, Lee Kang-in’s shot was denied by the left post.
Two minutes later, Nantes goalkeeper Karlgren came to his team’s rescue, saving a clear one-on-one chance against Hakimi.
The Swedish goalkeeper remained alert throughout, denying further attempts from Vitinha, Lee Kang-in, and Nuno Mendes, while João Neves notably wasted another chance in a frustrating sequence for PSG.
Nantes took advantage of PSG’s missed opportunities, equalizing in the 38th minute. Mathis Ablin scored with a shot from inside the penalty area after skillfully dribbling past Ecuadorian defender Willian Pacho.
Despite dominating possession, PSG continued to squander chances in front of Nantes’ goal, with João Neves, Fabián Ruiz, and Warren Zaire-Emery (who came on as a substitute in the second half) all failing to find the back of the net.
In the 63rd minute, Gianluigi Donnarumma made a crucial save, denying Ablin’s header that seemed destined for goal.
Both Bradley Barcola and Lee Kang-in struggled in the second half, prompting PSG coach Luis Enrique to substitute them. However, their replacements, Ousmane Dembélé and Désirée Doi, couldn’t make a difference either.
PSG pressed hard for a winner, but despite their efforts, they were unable to break through Nantes’ defence, and the match ended in a frustrating 1-1 draw.
