Marcus Rashford has reportedly turned down three lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia, despite facing challenges at Manchester United.
Reports suggest that Manchester United is open to allowing Rashford to leave, following his recent exclusion from the squad by new head coach Ruben Amorim.
Despite the club’s openness to offers, the 27-year-old is firm about his priorities. He has made it clear that he is only interested in joining a club and league that provides a competitive environment, one that will help him rejuvenate his international career and secure a return to England’s squad under Thomas Tuchel.
The Daily Mail reports that Rashford has turned down three substantial offers from clubs in the Saudi Pro League, each offering a salary far exceeding his current £315,000-a-week earnings, with some proposals reaching up to £35 million ($43m) annually.
Additionally, he has ruled out a move to Turkey. These decisions underscore Rashford’s commitment to playing in a competitive environment, with a clear focus on earning a spot in the England squad under Thomas Tuchel. His most recent appearance for the national team came in a friendly against Brazil in March, but he was omitted from Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024.
Manchester United is reportedly open to considering offers for Rashford this month as part of their efforts to meet profit and sustainability regulations. The club would also be willing to explore a loan option, provided the receiving team agrees to pay a fee and cover most of Rashford’s wages.
Additionally, it’s been suggested that Rashford’s representatives, his brothers Dwaine Maynard and Dane Rashford, will only entertain offers that align with the player’s career goals. Any potential deal must support Rashford’s long-term prospects, making this a crucial period for all parties involved.
Rashford has not played in Manchester United’s last five matches, having been dropped after his performance in the Manchester derby last month. Although he was named as a substitute for United’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle earlier this week, he remained unused, adding to the uncertainty about his future under new coach Ruben Amorim.
United’s upcoming match is against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, and it’s unclear whether Rashford will be included in the squad. The decision will be a tough one for Amorim, as Rashford has scored seven goals against Liverpool—the most he has scored against any Premier League team.
