Real Madrid secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Leganes on Sunday evening in the 14th round of La Liga.
Real Madrid’s goals were netted by Kylian Mbappé, Fede Valverde, and Jude Bellingham in the 43rd, 66th, and 85th minutes, respectively.
The victory brought Real Madrid’s tally to 30 points, solidifying their second-place position in La Liga, just four points behind leaders Barcelona. Notably, Madrid still has a game in hand against Valencia.
Meanwhile, Leganes’ points total stayed at 14, leaving them in 14th position in the league standings.
The game kicked off with the visitors applying pressure early, highlighted by Mbappé’s powerful strike that was saved by goalkeeper Dmitrovic in the fourth minute.
Mbappé appeared to open the scoring in the ninth minute, but the referee ruled the goal offside after he received a pass from Vinícius Júnior.
In the 17th minute, Leganés’ Munir El Haddadi appealed for a penalty after being pushed by Fede Valverde in the box, but play continued.
Javi Hernández came close for Leganés in the 31st minute with a shot that sailed over the crossbar.
Vinícius also sought a penalty in the 34th minute following a collision with Altimira, but the referee waved play on.
Real Madrid eventually broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute. Bellingham capitalized on a defensive error by Leganés, intercepting the ball and setting up Vinícius, who drove forward and squared it to Mbappé for a simple finish.
Early in the second half, Courtois showcased his brilliance, denying Miguel de la Fuente’s close-range effort in the 47th minute.
In the 61st minute, Jude Bellingham appealed for a penalty after being pushed by Nastasic, but the referee dismissed his claims and signaled for play to continue.
Real Madrid doubled their lead in the 66th minute through Valverde. Ceballos delivered the ball from an indirect free kick, which Güler controlled before setting it up for Valverde, who unleashed a powerful strike into the net.
Leganés goalkeeper Dmitrovic pulled off an impressive save in the 73rd minute to deny Arda Güler from scoring a third.
Bellingham sealed the win in the 86th minute. Brahim Díaz’s shot deflected off a defender and struck the crossbar, rebounding perfectly for Bellingham, who soared to head it into the net, securing Real Madrid’s decisive victory.
