Real Madrid secured a crucial 4-2 victory over Sevilla on Sunday evening at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, in the 18th round of La Liga.

Real Madrid’s goals came from Kylian Mbappe (10th minute), Fede Valverde (20th minute), Rodrygo (34th minute), and Ibrahim Diaz (53rd minute). Sevilla responded with goals from Isaac Romero (35th minute) and Lukebakio (85th minute).

With this victory, Real Madrid moved up to second place in La Liga with 40 points, just one point behind leaders Atletico Madrid, while Sevilla remained on 22 points in 12th place.

The match began with intense pressure from the home team, and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring in the 10th minute. He received a pass from Rodrygo on the edge of the penalty area and unleashed a powerful shot into the net to give his team the lead.

Mbappe missed a chance to double the lead in the 19th minute when he received a cross from Vazquez and fired a volley, but it went over the left post.

Real Madrid did manage to add a second goal just a minute later, in the 20th minute. Fede Valverde received a pass from Eduardo Camavinga and unleashed a powerful shot from outside the area, sending it into the far left corner of goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez’s net.

Rodrygo made it 3-0 in the 34th minute when Lucas Vazquez sprinted down the right wing and delivered a cross, which Rodrygo finished off with a direct shot into the net.

Sevilla responded quickly with their first goal in the 35th minute. Isaac Romero rose to head a cross from Juanlu Sanchez into the net past Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois.

Real Madrid continued to control the match, and the first half ended with the home side leading 3-1.

At the start of the second half, Moroccan star Brahim Diaz extended Real Madrid’s lead to 4-1 in the 53rd minute. Vazquez passed the ball to Mbappe, who then sent a deep pass to Diaz. The winger received the ball and calmly slotted it into the net.

Sevilla almost pulled one back in the 59th minute when Isaac Romero fired a shot from the edge of the area, but it went just over the left post. Romero was also denied in the 72nd minute when he received a heel pass from Jesus Navas and shot, only for the ball to hit the crossbar.

Sevilla did manage to score again in the 85th minute when Lukebakio received a deep pass, sprinted, and fired a shot into the bottom right corner of Courtois’ net, making it 4-2.

The match ended with Real Madrid securing a 4-2 victory, earning three valuable points in their pursuit of the La Liga title.
