Real Madrid has made the decision to delay the tests that French forward Kylian Mbappé was scheduled to undergo.
Mbappé sustained an injury that led to his early exit from the Atalanta match, which Real Madrid won 3-2 yesterday in the final round of the Champions League group stage.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Mbappé will undergo medical tests today to assess the severity of the injury.
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, Real Madrid has decided to delay Mbappé’s medical tests until Thursday evening. In the meantime, coach Ancelotti granted the players a rest day from training on Wednesday.
The report suggests that Mbappé’s injury, which affects the back of his left thigh muscle, puts his participation in next Saturday’s La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano in doubt. There are also concerns about his availability for the Intercontinental Cup final in Doha on December 18.
While initial assessments of Mbappé’s injury were somewhat reassuring, indicating that he might only miss the La Liga game, Real Madrid is taking a cautious approach. The club will wait for Thursday’s test results to better understand the extent of the injury. This is especially significant as Mbappé had previously suffered a similar issue in late September, which sidelined him for the derby against Atletico Madrid.
