Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Arda Güler (who scored twice), and Luka Modrić scored five goals for Real Madrid, with goals in the 5th, 13th, 28th, 55th, and 88th minutes.
This commanding win ensured that Los Blancos advanced to the round of 16 in the competition.
The Italian coach, Carlo Ancelotti, fielded a lineup that combined reserves with young talent, giving the main players rest ahead of the Spanish Super Cup.
The match kicked off with an early lead for the Merengues, as Fede Valverde fired a powerful shot from inside the penalty area, beating goalkeeper Martinez and finding the net in the 5th minute.
Eduardo Camavinga doubled the lead in the 13th minute, meeting a left-sided cross from Fran García and heading the ball into the lower left corner past the goalkeeper.
Real Madrid’s dominance continued, with Arda Güler scoring the third goal in the 28th minute. After receiving a pass from Valverde, Güler fired a shot that deflected off a defender before finding the back of the net.
The first half concluded with Real Madrid comfortably leading 3-0.
At the start of the second half, Luka Modrić added a fourth goal in the 55th minute, exchanging passes with Brahim Díaz before firing the ball into the lower left corner of the net.
