Romano says Santos sacked as Portugal coach

Date:

Insider Fabrizio Romano has reported that Portugal head coach Fernando Santos has been sacked from his position.

Fernando Santos is no longer the head coach of Portugal. The decision was made after the World Cup. Portugal will appoint a new head coach in the coming weeks,” Romano wrote on one of his social networks. The 68-year-old has led the Portuguese team since 2014. Under his leadership, Portugal became the European champion in 2016, as well as the winner of the UEFA Nations League in 2019.

At the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the Portuguese reached the quarterfinals, in which they lost to Morocco (0:1).
