Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo, currently the captain of Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, has expressed his intention to purchase a major football club in the future.
“I’m still very young and have many plans and dreams, but mark my words, I will definitely own a big club,” Ronaldo stated at the Globe Soccer Awards 2024 on Friday.
The Portuguese forward also addressed the struggles faced by Manchester United in recent years. Having been a key figure at the club between 2003 and 2009, Ronaldo returned in 2021, spending about a year and a half with the Red Devils before his departure.
Ronaldo stated, “If I become the owner of the club, I will address the issues and make things right.”
He continued, “As I mentioned a year and a half ago, and I will keep saying, the problem is not with the coaches. It’s like a fish tank—if you have a sick fish, remove it, fix the problem, and put it back in. It will get sick again.”
Ronaldo had previously made strong comments before terminating his contract with Manchester United in 2022, stating that the club’s owners did not care or pay attention to what was happening at the club. He also criticized the lack of progress in improving the club’s infrastructure.
