The organizers of the Hamburg Open revealed on Thursday that Russian tennis star Andrey Rublev, currently ranked number eight in the world, is the first top seed to officially confirm his participation in next year’s tournament.
Rublev, who claimed the title at the clay-court event in 2020, had previously reached the final in the 2019 edition.
Out of his 16 career titles, Rublev has secured six on clay, including prestigious Masters victories in Monte Carlo last year and Madrid earlier this year.
Tournament director Enric Molina More confirmed that additional top players will be announced in the coming weeks.
Next year, the Hamburg tournament will return to its traditional May schedule after being held in July for several years. This move not only positions it as a key warm-up event for the French Open but also enhances its financial appeal.
The 2025 Hamburg tournament is set to run from May 17 to 24, with the French Open beginning the following day.
