Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah, a key player for Liverpool, is reportedly on the verge of signing a new contract with the club, with his current deal set to expire next summer.
According to the British newspaper Mirror, Salah has reached an agreement with Liverpool’s management after both sides found a middle ground during negotiations.
The report revealed that Salah’s agent, Rami Abbas, initially conveyed the player’s preference for a three-year extension. However, Liverpool’s initial offer was for just one additional year.
During the negotiation process, Salah sparked speculation about his future by making public comments suggesting this could be his final season with the Reds.
Liverpool supporters voiced their concerns with banners displaying messages such as: “He shoots arrows… Give Mo his money.”
According to the report, finances were never a sticking point, as Salah is already Liverpool’s highest-paid player, earning over £400,000 per week. The primary issue revolved around the duration of the new contract.
The paper highlighted that Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, have been hesitant to offer lengthy contracts to players over 30—a stance that has also delayed Virgil van Dijk’s contract renewal.
However, with Salah’s influence remaining pivotal, Fenway has reportedly agreed to his terms. Unless unexpected complications arise, the Egyptian forward is expected to sign a lucrative two-year extension soon.
