Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah expressed his delight following his team’s dominant 5-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday in the 19th round of the English Premier League.
Salah, who netted one goal and provided two assists in the 5-0 win over West Ham, spoke with Sky Sports: “I’m pleased with the result. We got an early goal and managed the game really well.”
Looking back at his assist for Cody Gakpo, the Egyptian star said: “It’s similar to the goal we scored against Arsenal when I was offside and left the ball for Darwin. This time, Lucho (Luis Diaz) was shouting behind me, and I made the pass to Cody. It was a smart decision.”
Salah expressed his desire for Liverpool’s success, stating, “My main focus is to help Liverpool win the league, and I want to be a part of that. I’ll do everything I can to contribute to the team’s title pursuit.”
He acknowledged the growing competition, saying, “Other teams are closing the gap, so we need to stay focused, humble, and keep pushing forward. I just try to enjoy playing, and while I’m here to get results and make a difference, I’m always eager for more.”
Regarding talks about a new contract, Salah said, “We’re far from that, and I prefer not to discuss it in the media.”
Reflecting on his past confrontation with former manager Jurgen Klopp during last season’s West Ham game, he shared, “In the dressing room, the players joked, ‘Do you remember what happened here last year?’ and we all laughed about it.”
He concluded, “Virgil (Van Dijk) was the first to laugh about it. It wasn’t a pleasant moment last year, but this time, the experience was much better.”
