Sterling leads Chelsea to cross Leicester with 10 players

Date:

Chelsea escaped with a precious victory over its guest Leicester City (2-1), on Saturday evening, at Stamford Bridge, in the fourth round of the English Premier League.

Raheem Sterling scored Chelsea’s two goals in the 47th and 63rd minutes, while Harvey Barnes scored Leicester City’s only goal in the 66th minute.

Chelsea’s balance rose to 7 points in sixth place, while Leicester City’s balance froze at one point in ninth place, “penultimate”.

The beginning was when Sterling advanced the ball into the penalty area before sending it to the far post to Loftus-Cheek, but goalkeeper Danny Ward blocked his attempt brilliantly.

The referee awarded a penalty kick in favor of Chelsea after Loftus-Cheek was blocked by Tielemans, before reversing his decision after using video technology in the 13th minute.

And the 28th minute witnessed a turning point in the match, when Gallagher got a second yellow card for him in the match, after he was fouled by Barnes, to leave the field dismissed.

Leicester scored a goal with a header from Barnes, but the referee canceled it after using the VAR technique, due to contact with goalkeeper Edward Mendy in the six-yard area.

James almost opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, when he met a cross from his colleague Raheem Sterling, and Justin tried to cut it to reach him and hit the post.

Castagni raised a cross that reached Vardy, who shot next to the post, and then a ball reached Tillimans, who hit it so that Mendy shined in overtime.

Chelsea managed to open the scoring in the 47th minute, when Sterling received a pass from Kokoria, before firing a ball over the goalkeeper Ward to wobbly into the net.

Chelsea came close to adding the second goal in the 51st minute when Sterling hit the post after a new pass from Kokoria that bounced from the defense.

Castagni’s header passed over Chelsea’s goal after a cross from Tillimans in the 58th minute, and six minutes later Mendy blocked Barnes’s low header.

Leicester’s substitute Kelechi Ihyanacho made a distinguished technical effort, before preparing the ball for Barnes, who shot over the cross in the 61st minute.

Contrary to the events, Chelsea were able to enhance their progress through Sterling also, after a cross in front of the goal sent by James in the 63rd minute.

The response came Quickly from Leicester in the 66th minute, Barnes crossed the ball, who exchanged the ball with Vardy before getting rid of Thiago Silva and hitting the net.

Ihyanacho received a pass from Tillimans, before he shot by the goal, and then the player himself missed a dangerous opportunity when he shot awkwardly near the near post.

Christian Pulisic and Mateo Kovacic came in instead of Sterling and Jorginho, then Senegalese Mendy saved his goal by himself for Vardy in the 78th minute.

Vardy returned again to miss the opportunity to equalize in the 84th minute, when the Chelsea defender preceded a long ball and hit the side net from outside.

Substitute Ayoze Perez almost equalized for Leicester City in the 87th minute, but his shot rebounded from the post after a pass from Amarty.
