Manchester United achieved a good performance, which led them to a third successive victory and advanced to fifth place, today, after starting the season with two consecutive losses.
“It’s another step forward, so I’m happy, we showed good team spirit,” Ten Hag told BT Sport after the match. “We had 11 players on the pitch who fought for each other and scored a great goal for the team.”
“However, there are necessary improvements, but that is normal at this stage of the season. There were a lot of spaces that we did not use well.”
And he added, “With better decisions, we should have scored a second goal. We have to be tougher, but as I said there is room for improvement.”
Ten Hag praised Jadon Sancho, who scored the game’s only goal, saying, “He was good pre-season and you can see that he can make the difference.
“I am also happy with the clean sheet. When we have 11 players who can defend and attack together, and we have the energy, you see what you can achieve.”
Regarding the end of the transfer period, Ten Hag said, “We need a good team, and we needed numbers. There are a lot of matches to play.”
“Once Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro are more physically fit, the situation will improve,” he added.
He added, “We do not need a team, but the whole list. We will see Anthony after training and whether he is ready to participate in Sunday’s match against Arsenal.”
He concluded, “When there is a good opportunity, we have to pounce on it, but the transfer window is now closed.”
