Arsenal has agreed to terminate Hector Bellerin’s contract, which will give the 27-year-old a chance to join Barcelona on a free transfer.
According to ESPN, Arsenal agreed to terminate Bellerin’s contract a year before its end, and the right-back is currently in advanced talks to return to Barcelona, where he was a player in Barca’s youth teams.
In turn, Fabrizio Romano, a player transfer specialist, said that Bellerin had reached an agreement on special terms with Barcelona and that the contract was ready to be signed.
This comes after Bellerin left Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta and spent last season on loan at Real Betis.
Arsenal’s desire was to benefit financially from Bellerin’s departure, especially since he still had an additional year left on his contract, while the player’s desire was for the club to allow him to leave for free and terminate his contract, which he achieved.
