An Italian press report revealed the reason for the failure of the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Manchester United star, to Napoli before the end of the summer transfer market.
According to the Italian newspaper, “Corriere del Mezzogiorno”, which is close to Naples, Manchester United tried to sign Victor Osimhen from the ranks of Naples for more than 80 million euros while loaning Ronaldo for a season.
Napoli was the potential destination for the Portuguese, especially as the team participates in the Champions League, a goal that Ronaldo aspired to.
The report indicated that Napoli did not hold direct talks with the Manchester United administration regarding Cristiano Ronaldo, “but the negotiations were with his agent Jorge Mendes.”
“We have a very good relationship with Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo’s agent, but there was nothing concrete between Napoli and the player,” Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli said earlier.
