In the match of the 6th round of the UEFA Champions League group stage of the 2022/2023 season, Marseille hosted London’s Tottenham Hotspur.
The meeting was held at the Velodrome stadium in Marseille (France) and ended with the victory of the guests with a score of 2:1.
In stoppage time of the first half, Marseille defender Chancel Mbemba opened the scoring. Midfielder Jordan Veretu provided the assist. In the 54th minute, Tottenham Hotspur defender Clement Lenglet equalized with a goal after a pass from midfielder Ivan Perisic. Spurs player Pierre-Emile Høybjerg scored the winning goal in stoppage time.
Tottenham Hotspur scored 11 points and qualified for the UEFA Champions League knockout stages from first place in Group D. Marseille (6) were eliminated from European competition. The teams’ rivals in the group are Eintracht Frankfurt (10) and Sporting CP (7).
