Vice-President of the Turkish Basketball Federation Omer Onan announced the possible withdrawal of the team from the European Championship if it is not provided with a video of the incident that occurred during the match with the Georgian national team, which took place yesterday, September 4, in Tbilisi.
In the fourth quarter of the match, there was a fight between the players Furkan Korkmaz and Duda Sanadze, after which both were removed from the site.
According to the Turkish team, Korkmaz was attacked in a room under the stands. “I am contacting FIBA. Don’t let anyone take us for fools. We will be provided with video recordings from cameras from this corridor every minute. If this does not happen, we will leave the tournament,” Onan said.
Recall that the Georgian national team sensationally won with a score of 88:83 (OT). The Turkish team filed an official protest against the outcome of the meeting due to the fact that after the incident with Korkmaz and Sanadze, 22 seconds were removed from the playing time.
