Real Madrid announced today, Monday, that the Brazilian Vinicius Junior, the winger of the team, has obtained Spanish nationality.

“The club announces that our Brazilian player, Vinicius Junior, took an oath of allegiance to the Spanish Constitution on Friday, September 2, and accordingly obtained Spanish nationality from that moment, Real Madrid said in a statement on its official website.

“It is important news for Real Madrid because they now have an additional seat for players from outside the European Union,” wrote Fabrizio Romano, the expert on transfers of players and coaches in Europe.

“The Brazilian Gabriel Jesus deal collapsed in June, because of this problem,” the transfer expert added on Twitter.

It is noteworthy that Gabriel Jesus was linked with a move to Real Madrid when he was at Manchester City, but eventually signed for Arsenal.
