An Italian news report on Tuesday revealed that an Italian club is aiming to sign Carlo Ancelotti, the current coach of Real Madrid, at the end of the current season.
Carlo Ancelotti’s contract with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2026, but reports suggest he could depart at the end of this season after securing all possible titles.
According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid plans to hire Xabi Alonso, the current manager of Bayer Leverkusen, next summer. This move is part of a decision to part ways with Ancelotti due to the team’s underwhelming performance this season.
The Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport confirmed that Roma has placed Carlo Ancelotti on its shortlist of potential candidates for the club’s manager position next season.
Roma has struggled with results since the departure of Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho. Following Mourinho’s exit, Daniele De Rossi, Ivan Juric, and most recently Claudio Ranieri have stepped in as interim managers.
The newspaper reported that Ranieri is actively trying to persuade Ancelotti to take over as Roma’s head coach next season, leveraging their strong relationship.
Ancelotti, who played for Roma from 1979 to 1987, retired in 1992 with Milan.
