Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez said today, Friday, that he wants to deal with the team player Ansu Fati “cautiously and carefully”, after his absence from the championship role, since the beginning of the season.
Xavi said in a press conference, on the eve of the match against Elche in the sixth round of the Spanish League, “Ansu is fine. But we are going according to a plan. He has already made a difference against Real Sociedad. He still lacks the rhythm and unity of matches after a long absence.”
Xavi recalled that last year he rushed Ansu Fati back after his injury, and then suffered a setback, “I decided to be careful with him. He will come and help us, but there are other players and there is competition.”
Spain coach Luis Enrique announced today, Friday, a list of 25 players called up for the next two matches in the Nations League, including Ansu Fati.
“The decision to go to the World Cup depends on Luis Enrique, not on me,” Xavi said. “I have a very good relationship with Luis Enrique. We just talked about the situation.”
Regarding the renewal of Gavi’s contract, the coach said, “It is the most important news of the week.”
The team coach believes that Gavi “has become a mature player and has strength and is now playing more flexible.”
