Xavi: If we don’t win titles, someone else will come to win them

Date:

Despite the recent defeat in La Liga against Real Madrid (3-1) and a draw against Inter Milan in the Champions League (3-3), Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez said that his team is thinking about winning titles, and stressed that if he did not win them this season, “He will come.” Another coach.

At a press conference before facing Villarreal on Thursday, the Catalan coach spoke about his future at the helm of Barcelona’s technical leadership after he lost the top of the Spanish League after his defeat at the Bernabeu and is on the verge of being eliminated in the Champions League.

“Everyone is trying to lift my spirits,” Xavi said. “It seems as if one of my relatives has died with all the messages on my mobile phone. In Barca, there are no transitional seasons.”

He continued: “With the efforts made by the club, we must go on to win trophies. If we don’t achieve that, there will be consequences, as the club president said, for me too. I don’t want to look for excuses. If trophies are not won, another coach will come and try to do it.” Simply put, I try to be normal.”

In general, Xavi seemed convinced that he would be able to “turn the tables”, happy despite the challenges of the future, and promised to work “more” to achieve the goal of winning titles this season.

He continued, “I have to be honest with the club, the players, and the members. We have built a team to achieve success and that’s how I think. I go on and have all the ambitions in the world.”

For this reason, Xavi faces the upcoming matches of the Catalan team “positively”, as Barca must, as he stressed, “change” the dynamics of the results, starting from his match tomorrow, Thursday, against Villarreal at the Nou stadium.

In this regard, he described his opponent tomorrow as a “chameleon” because he was a team “able to defend in the back lines, then press you”.

For this reason, Xavi is confident that his players will not repeat the mistakes they made in the Clasico and in the match against Inter, when they suffered a lot in defensive moves.

The coach also confirmed that Barca should play more offensively, and that he must improve in several other aspects, expressing his hope that his team will play a good match tomorrow.
