Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has sparked a state of controversy over the position of some Barca stars who are expected to leave the team this summer.
Barcelona is preparing to open its new season, tomorrow, Saturday, by facing Rayo Vallecano, at the Camp Nou, in the first phase of the Spanish League.
“I am counting on Aubameyang,” Xavi said in his press conference. “The ones I don’t count on already know, while the others are at the club and we have to compete tomorrow.”
He added, “From here until August 31, I don’t know what will happen. I love (Oba), and I’m happy that we are together, but what could happen I don’t know.”
On Frenkie de Jong’s situation, the coach commented, “It’s the same as Aubameyang. De Jong is an important player and I can use him, but the transfer market is still open until the end of the month. I don’t know what will happen to Frenkie, Aubameyang and the whole team.”
“We don’t know what will happen with many players until the end of the transfer market,” he continued.
On the whistles against De Jong, Xavi said, “I saw applause. The fans are sovereign, everyone is making an effort to make us better. The team and the club, and Pique can also help the same situation, I have no complaints.”
Xavi was asked about Depay’s position as well, and explained, “Let’s see what happens. The ideal thing that could happen would be for the market to close today, but until the end of the month, there is time for new deals and departures.”
