Tottenham striker Harry Kane commented on his team’s 2-0 victory over Marseille in the first round of the Champions League group stage on Wednesday.

Spurs managed to win through Richalison’s two goals in the 76th and 81st minutes, in a match that saw Marseille defender Chancel Mbemba sent off in the 47th minute.

Kane said, in comments highlighted by the BBC, ” The match was difficult, and playing against a good team like Marseille is a start.” Great for the season.”

“The competition is tough in the Champions League, so we needed to start strong at home and the red card helped us win.”

He continued, “We did not keep the ball well in the first half, but the second half came a little better, as we continued to try and send cross passes.”

He continued: “It was important to start well in the Champions League, we did it and we were happy to get the three points. We have five busy days, where we will face Manchester City at home, and then we will travel to Sporting Lisbon.”

He concluded: “Richarlison has been fantastic since he entered, he trains hard and waited for an opportunity and played well when he got it.”
