Iranian head coach Carlos Queiroz has announced his retirement from the Iranian national team.
“Guys and dear friends, there is no shame in not achieving your dream as long as you fight for it and do your best. I’m proud of you, once again you were great on and off the field. It was an honor and a privilege for me to be part of this football family. I believe you deserve respect. I wish you happiness, success, and health. Thank you,” Queiroz wrote on his social media page.
The day before, the Iranian national team lost to the US national team in the match of the 3rd round of the group stage of the 2022 World Cup with a score of 0:1 and could not get into the playoffs of the tournament. The only goal was scored by US midfielder Christian Pulisic.
