Bayern have announced the signing of Swiss goalkeeper Jan Sommer from Borussia Mönchengladbach, according to the Munich club’s website.
Sommer, who turned 34 in December, will sign a contract until June 30, 2025.
“I am looking forward to the next chapter of my career, which will start at Bayern. It’s a big club, we often played against each other and I know the great quality and appeal of this club. I am proud to be part of Bayern now. We have big challenges ahead of us. I would like to thank Borussia Dortmund for eight and a half great years and for making this transfer possible,” Sommer said.
Previously, 36-year-old Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer suffered a broken leg while skiing and will no longer be able to play this season.
