Karim Benzema, the French star of Al-Ittihad Jeddah, has reportedly encouraged a key Real Madrid player to consider joining him at the Saudi club.
The Spanish show El Chiringuito revealed that Karim Benzema has recommended his compatriot Ferland Mendy, Real Madrid’s full-back, to join Al-Ittihad Jeddah next season.
Reports suggest Mendy is seeking a salary increase, a demand Real Madrid is reluctant to meet, particularly as the club edges closer to securing Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies.
Ferland Mendy recently extended his contract with Real Madrid until the summer of 2027. However, he reportedly fears losing his starting spot if Alphonso Davies joins the team next season.
According to El Chiringuito, Real Madrid would not block Mendy’s departure should Davies sign. In that case, Fran García is expected to step up as the primary left-back option.
