Chelsea beat Barcelona 3-0 in a dominant Champions League win
Chelsea beat Barcelona 3-0 at Stamford Bridge in the fifth round of the Champions League league stage, securing a strong and deserved victory in front of their home fans. The Blues controlled the match from start to finish, punishing Barcelona’s defensive mistakes and delivering one of their most complete performances of the season.
Goals from an own goal by Jules Koundé, a brilliant strike by Estevão, and a composed finish by Willian Delap sealed the win as Chelsea climbed to 10 points, while Barcelona remained stuck at 7 points.
Chelsea take early control
Chelsea beat Barcelona 3-0 thanks to early pressure that quickly exposed Barcelona’s weaknesses. Enzo Fernández even thought he had opened the scoring in the third minute before the goal was disallowed for a handball in the build-up.
Barcelona nearly answered when Ferran Torres received a perfect pass from Lamine Yamal inside the area, but failed to convert from a tight angle.
Chelsea continued to threaten, and in the 27th minute, they finally broke through when a short corner found Cucurella completely unmarked. His low cross forced Koundé into scoring an own goal, giving Chelsea a deserved 1-0 lead.
Barcelona struggled heavily under pressure and found themselves reduced to ten men just before halftime when Ronald Araújo received a second yellow card after a reckless challenge on Cucurella.
Estevão’s brilliance and Delap’s finish seal the win
Chelsea started the second half with the same intensity. Although a goal was disallowed in the 50th minute, they quickly struck again.
In the 55th minute, De Jong lost the ball in a dangerous area, allowing Estevão to steal, dribble past Coparsi and unleash a rocket into the top corner, doubling the lead with a spectacular solo moment.
Pedro Neto nearly added a third before Delap eventually made it 3-0 in the 73rd minute. After Barcelona lost possession yet again, Chelsea launched a quick attack that ended with Enzo’s perfect cross to Delap, who calmly placed the ball into the net.
Barcelona spent the final minutes trapped deep in their own half, unable to pass the midfield line, as Chelsea maintained full control until the final whistle.
