Ronaldo Defends the Saudi Pro League: “It Deserves More Recognition”

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese football superstar playing for Al-Nassr, has once again defended the Saudi Pro League, claiming it is not receiving the recognition it truly deserves. In an interview with Edu Aguirre on Spanish Channel 6, coinciding with his 40th birthday, Ronaldo shared his thoughts on the league’s development and his experience in Saudi Arabia.

“I am really enjoying this experience,” Ronaldo said. “I feel very comfortable with my family here, and I love challenges. Big challenges do not scare me.”

Ronaldo on His Move to Al-Nassr: Embracing the Challenge

Reflecting on his move to Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo expressed that he never had second thoughts about the Saudi League.

“The experience of coming to Saudi Arabia never kept me up at night. I knew the league well, with many Portuguese players already here,” he explained.

Despite not expecting the league to develop so rapidly, Ronaldo acknowledges its significant growth, stating, “I knew it would be at the highest level, as it is now.”

Ronaldo Compares the Saudi Pro League to the American League

Ronaldo did not shy away from making comparisons between the Saudi Pro League and the American League(MLS), stating that the Saudi competition is superior.

“The Saudi League is better than the American League. People who talk about it don’t really know what they’re talking about. Only players who have played in both leagues understand the difference,” he said confidently.

Ronaldo Reflects on His Relationship with Messi

The comparison between Ronaldo and Lionel Messi is inevitable, especially with Messi now playing in the American League for Inter Miami. Ronaldo took the time to discuss his relationship with the Argentine star, acknowledging their shared history in the world of football.

“My relationship with Messi has always been good,” he said. “I even worked as a translator for him at an award ceremony once, which was a nice moment.”

However, when asked about the possibility of the two of them facing off again, Ronaldo expressed doubt: “It’s difficult, but I hope we can see our numbers repeated again.”

Ronaldo’s Daily Life in Saudi Arabia: A Glimpse Into His Routine

Ronaldo opened up about his daily life in Saudi Arabia, giving fans a glimpse into his routine. “I enjoy football every day,” he said. “I wake up, have breakfast with Georgina, then head to training. Afterwards, I sometimes pick up the children from school, and I enjoy going out for dinner occasionally.”

While his passion for football remains strong, Ronaldo admitted that the desire to train is no longer the same as when he was younger. “The desire is a little less than before, but I still have the passion,” he shared. “I don’t go to the gym enthusiastically every day, but my commitment keeps me going.”

Ronaldo’s Secret to Avoiding Injuries: Focused Recovery and Specific Training

Despite his age and the number of matches he plays, Ronaldo rarely faces injuries. He attributes this to his focused approach to physical recovery.

“I am fully aware of the changes in football, especially regarding physical recovery,” he explained. “Recovery is as important as training. If I rest for 3 hours, I recover for 3 hours. The solution is to train less but more specifically.”

Cristiano Ronaldo also emphasized the importance of diet, saying, “It’s not difficult for me. I do things right, and psychologically, it helps. I eat what’s good for me, but it’s okay to indulge once a week.”

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Impact on Football in Saudi Arabia and Beyond

As Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates his 40th birthday, his impact on the Saudi Pro League and the football world continues to grow. His defense of the league, insights into his life in Saudi Arabia, and disciplined approach to fitness and recovery set an example for athletes around the globe.
