Farewell ceremony for Pele ends at Santos Stadium

Three-time world champion Pelé was buried in the vertical cemetery in Santos, Sao Paulo. The necropolis is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest vertical cemetery in the world.

Earlier it was reported that 19 years ago, a former football player bought a niche on the ninth floor in this cemetery overlooking the Santos stadium.

The farewell ceremony with Pele was attended by about 230 thousand people. People stood in line for several hours to say goodbye to the football legend.

The only three-time world football champion in history died on December 29, 2022 at the age of 82 due to complications from colon cancer.
