Griezmann gives Atletico the three points in a dramatic win over Sevilla

French forward Antoine Griezmann played a starring role as Atlético Madrid fought back to claim a thrilling 4-3 victory over Sevilla in the 16th round of La Liga on Sunday evening.

The match began with Atlético taking an early lead in the 10th minute when Argentine midfielder Rodrigo De Paul unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box, beating Sevilla’s goalkeeper to give the home side the advantage at the Wanda Metropolitano.

However, Sevilla quickly responded, with goals from Dodi Lukebakio in the 12th minute and Isaac Romero Bernal in the 32nd minute, putting the visitors ahead by halftime. Atlético struggled to regain control as Sevilla’s defence stood firm, and the Andalusian side took a 3-1 lead when Juanlu Sanchez scored in the 57th minute, making it seem like a difficult task for Atlético to mount a comeback.

But Griezmann led the charge in the second half, and Atlético’s persistence paid off. The home side managed to turn the game around, with a series of goals that saw them complete a dramatic comeback. In the end, Atlético sealed a 4-3 victory, continuing their push up the La Liga standings. Griezmann’s performance was key, as his leadership and contributions ensured that Atlético Madrid came out on top in this thrilling encounter.

With the match heading into stoppage time, Griezmann once again proved his worth by scoring in the 94th minute, completing the comeback and securing all three points for Atlético. His brace took his tally to 7 goals in La Liga this season.

This victory marked Atlético Madrid’s fifth consecutive win in the league, pushing them to 35 points and into third place, just behind defending champions Real Madrid with 36 points. Barcelona remains at the top with 38 points, making the race for the title increasingly competitive among the league’s top three.

On the other hand, Sevilla’s poor run continued as they suffered their seventh loss of the season, leaving them with 19 points in 13th place.
