Norwegian Erling Haaland did not score a goal in his first match at his Manchester City stadium, but Pep Guardiola, coach of the team, confirmed that it was only a matter of time before the fans saw the best in the player who joined this summer.
Haaland, who opened his scoring record with the team with two goals against West Ham last week, made the first goal that Gundogan scored against Bournemouth, in the match that ended (4-0) in favor of his team today, Saturday.
But the 22-year-old Norwegian was unable to score with two chances in the match and was frustrated by another chance he almost contributed with a goal with teammate Phil Foden.
Guardiola said of Halland: “He performs the most difficult job in the world when you are a striker and you are in the defensive areas of an opponent like Bournemouth, who has 3 defenders and two attackers and you are in the middle, so how can you survive that.”
He added: “It is very difficult, we know that we will see many situations, it is only a matter of time, he has to find the right moments and the right moves, and with the capabilities that our players have in order to help him, a lot will happen.”
He continued, “I don’t have many doubts about it. We have seen it in the past with other teams, we have to be patient.”
