Fawzi Lakjaa, President of the Moroccan Football Federation, confirmed that the Atlas Lions are ready to participate in the African Cup of Nations for local players in Algeria.
“The Moroccan national team is ready to participate in the matter at any time, but what we lack, and as I confirmed earlier, is the authorization for us to travel through Royal Moroccan Airlines to Algeria, because it is the official sponsor of the Moroccan national teams,” Lakjaa said in statements to (Al-Riyadiah) channel.
He continued, “The Moroccan national team continues its preparations in the Mohammed VI boat, and is ready to travel at any time, and the only thing we demand is a permit to travel.”
He continued: “The distance is not long between Morocco and Algeria, so we are ready to travel at any time, that is, if we receive a positive response from CAF and the organizing agencies.”
And he added, “It will be difficult to deprive these young people who have been training for months to participate in the tournament to honor Moroccan football, especially since we won the title in the last two editions.”
Fawzi Lakjaa stressed, “We prepared all the ingredients for success for this team with a professional camp and a number of friendlies, and we had and still have great hope that these players will defend the title.”
He concluded: “Our position is clear and unambiguous, and through it, we reviewed the force majeure that prevented us from traveling to Algeria, represented in our failure to obtain an official written authorization from the organizing committee for the matter to move the Royal Air Maroc plane to Constantine.”
