Morocco win the Arab Cup in an unforgettable Lusail final

Morocco win the Arab Cup glory after producing a night to remember at Lusail Stadium, edging Jordan 3-2 after extra time in one of the most dramatic finals in the competition’s history. The 2025 Arab Cup final delivered on every promise, with momentum swings, stunning goals, and a decisive late hero.

The Atlas Lions struck early through a sensational long-range effort from Oussama Tannane, only for Jordan to respond strongly in the second half. Substitute Abderrazak Hamdallah ultimately proved decisive, scoring twice to seal Morocco’s second Arab Cup title after their triumph in 2012.

Dream start and a goal for the ages

The final began at a blistering tempo, and Morocco needed just four minutes to break the deadlock. Oussama Tannane stunned the packed Lusail Stadium with a world-class strike from midfield, catching goalkeeper Yazid Abu Laila off his line and sending the ball crashing into the net.

Jordan attempted an immediate response, but Morocco’s defensive organization held firm as the Atlas Lions gradually asserted control in midfield.

Jordan fight back after halftime

Jordan emerged revitalized after the break and found their equalizer in the 48th minute. Ali Alwan rose highest to meet a precise cross, heading past Issam Smiri to level the score and ignite the Jordanian supporters.

The momentum continued to swing Jordan’s way, and after a VAR review confirmed a handball inside the box, Alwan calmly converted from the spot in the 68th minute to give Al-Nashama a 2-1 lead.

Hamdallah turns the final on its head

Facing defeat, Morocco coach Tarik Sektioui made bold attacking substitutions, introducing Abderrazak Hamdallah. The pressure intensified, and in the 87th minute, Hamdallah pounced on a rebound after Abu Laila’s save to force extra time amid heated protests.

Jordan missed a golden chance to win the match in regulation, as Alwan failed to convert a one-on-one opportunity late on.

Extra-time drama seals Morocco’s win in the Arab Cup title

Extra time delivered yet another twist when Jordan briefly thought they had scored, only for the goal to be ruled out for handball. Morocco then struck decisively in the 100th minute, as Hamdallah followed up a dangerous cross to score his second of the night and complete the comeback.

Jordan pushed desperately in the closing minutes, but Morocco’s defence held firm, and the final whistle confirmed that Morocco had won the Arab Cup extraordinarily.

A historic triumph for the Atlas Lions

The victory crowns a remarkable tournament for Morocco, who lift the Arab Cup for the second time in their history. Jordan, despite suffering their first defeat after five consecutive wins, earned widespread admiration for their fearless run to the final.

Lusail Stadium bore witness to a final worthy of Arab football’s growing stature—one that will be remembered for its drama, quality, and unforgettable moments.
