Legendary Brazilian soccer player Pele is not responding to chemotherapy. An 82-year-old Brazilian is receiving palliative care.
This is reported by the Brazilian edition of Folha de Sao Paulo. In September 2021, the former footballer underwent surgery for bowel cancer and has been undergoing chemotherapy ever since. Despite this, at the beginning of this year, new cancerous tumors were discovered in him.
According to the source, the palliative care that Pele receives is aimed at relieving the pain from which he suffers, and is indicated for “all patients with a progressive and life-threatening disease or condition.” Earlier, his daughter spoke about Pele’s condition, and the former footballer himself reassured the fans. The hospital where the Brazilian is being treated also issued a statement.
