Due to the ongoing wildfires in the Greater Los Angeles area, the NBA has decided to postpone the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Charlotte Hornets, which was originally scheduled for Thursday.
This marks the second consecutive day that a Los Angeles-based game has been postponed, following the decision to delay the Los Angeles Kings’ match against the Calgary Flames in the American Hockey League on Wednesday.
New dates for both games will be announced in the future. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Kings have confirmed that tickets for their postponed game against the Calgary Flames will remain valid for the rescheduled date.
Three separate fires erupted across Los Angeles following two days of intense winds, with the most significant threat occurring Wednesday in the Hollywood Hills, close to the heart of the movie and entertainment industry. The blaze was eventually contained by Thursday morning.
Approximately 180,000 people were ordered to evacuate as the fires spread over an area of about 45 square miles (117 square kilometers), roughly the size of San Francisco.
