Valencia returned to the path of victories that it missed in the last two stages of the Spanish League, after its sweeping 5-1 victory over its guest, Getafe, today, Sunday, in the fourth stage of the competition.
The rest of the matches of the stage that took place today resulted in Osasuna beating its guest Rayo Vallecano 2-1, Espanyol at its host Athletic Bilbao 1-0, and Villarreal at its guest Elche 4-0.
The balance of Valencia, who lost against Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid in the past two stages, rose to 6 points in tenth place, while Getafe’s balance stopped at one point, to remain in the nineteenth place (penultimate).
Valencia advanced early through Antonio Groeso in the seventh minute, before his colleagues Samuel Leno and Samuel Castillejo added the second and third goals in the 14th and 16th minutes, respectively.
Nicolas Gonzalez and Hugo Douro added the fourth and fifth goals in the 65th and 68th minutes before Gaston Alvarez scored Getafe’s only goal in the 78th minute.
The two teams played in the last minutes with ten players, after the Guinean Elix Moriba of Valencia was sent off in the 88th minute, and Mauro Arambari of Getafe in stoppage time, for receiving a second warning.
