Lewandowski’s hat trick in Vigo revives Barça’s title chase

Lewandowski’s hat trick in Vigo was the highlight of Barcelona’s 4–2 win against Celta Vigo on Sunday night, allowing Xavi’s men to take full advantage of Real Madrid’s goalless draw with Rayo Vallecano.

The Polish striker was unstoppable, scoring three goals in the 10th, 37th, and 73rd minutes, while teenager Lamine Yamal added another in first-half stoppage time. Celta Vigo’s goals came through Sergio Carreira and Borja Iglesias, but it wasn’t enough to deny Barça a valuable away win.

With the victory, Barcelona moved to 28 points, just three behind leaders Real Madrid, while Celta Vigo remained on 13 points in 13th place.

Barça respond quickly after early setback

Barcelona began the match with intent, pressing high and creating danger through Marcus Rashford, who drew a foul on the edge of the box in the opening minutes.

After a VAR check for handball, Barça were awarded a penalty in the 9th minute, and Lewandowski confidently converted from the spot to open the scoring.

Celta Vigo replied immediately, capitalizing on a defensive lapse as Carreira leveled in the 12th minute.

The hosts looked dangerous on the break, but Szczesny and Alejandro Balde denied further damage. At the other end, Radu produced a series of stunning saves to keep out Rashford and Firmino.

Lewandowski restored Barcelona’s lead in the 37th minute with a clinical finish from Rashford’s assist, before Borja Iglesias struck again to equalize just six minutes later.

However, in stoppage time, Lamine Yamal followed up a rebound to make it 3–2 before halftime — a goal that gave Barça control heading into the second period.

Lewandowski completes the hat trick

The second half saw Celta push forward, but Barcelona’s defense, led by Ronald Araújo and Eric Garcia, remained solid.

In the 73rd minute, Lewandowski sealed his hat trick in style — rising high to meet Rashford’s corner with a powerful header that left Radu rooted to the spot.

It was the Polish striker’s first La Liga hat trick this season, reaffirming his status as the team’s main attacking force.

Despite a late red card for Frenkie de Jong after a reckless tackle on Iago Aspas, Barcelona held firm to secure all three points.
