Haaland strikes again in City’s dominant win
Manchester City proved unstoppable as they swept Liverpool 3-0 on Sunday evening at the Etihad Stadium in the 11th round of the Premier League. Haaland strikes again, joined by Nico Gonzalez and Jeremy Doku, who completed the scoring in the 29th, 45+3, and 63rd minutes, respectively.
With this win, City rose to 22 points, just four behind Arsenal, while Liverpool’s struggles continued, remaining eighth with 18 points.
Haaland redeems his penalty miss
The game burst into life early, with City pressing hard from the start. Doku was brought down in the box by Liverpool’s goalkeeper after just nine minutes, prompting a VAR review that awarded a penalty.
However, Haaland’s spot-kick was brilliantly saved, delaying the opener.
Minutes later, the Norwegian made amends by heading in Nunez’s cross for the first goal, putting City ahead in the 29th minute.
Liverpool thought they’d equalized through Van Dijk, but the goal was disallowed for a foul on Donnarumma. Just before halftime, Nico Gonzalez doubled the lead with a low, deflected shot that left the goalkeeper helpless.
Doku seals the deal
In the second half, Jeremy Doku continued tormenting Liverpool’s defense, capping his brilliant display with a curling shot into the far corner in the 63rd minute to make it 3-0.
Liverpool had chances to respond — Szoboszlai’s long-range strike was stopped by Donnarumma, and Salah narrowly missed a chip over the goalkeeper — but City’s defense stood firm to keep a clean sheet.
